Doc: Why, when I was your age...
Action: When *you* was my age? When my old man was my age, when my brother was my age... You was never my age, none of ya! And the sooner you creeps get hip to that, the sooner you'll dig us!
Doc: I'll dig you an early grave, that's what I'll dig.
We meet Lt. Schrank, Officer (Sgt.) Krupke, Doc, and Glad Hand (the social worker at the dance). We hear the voice of Maria's father, and Tony and Maria both talk about their mothers. We briefly see and hear from Maria's boss at the dress shop (Lucia), and hear the voice of a cop when he calls to Krupke from the squad car.
Who's good? Who's bad? Who's nice? Who's mad? What evidence is there that the adults have - or don't have - influence on the younger people in the movie? And/or, more generally, what is the role that adults should take on in society...and what happens when they do or don't rise to that expectation?
